Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge

The hotel is beautiful and clearly has a lot of potential, but unfortunately it feels like it has been allowed to deteriorate over time. The blinds in our room were broken and could not be opened, which meant we completely missed out on the view from the room. We reported this several times during our stay, but unfortunately nothing was done about it. The room itself was generally clean, but the bathroom door was practically broken and could not be properly closed, which was very inconvenient. The air conditioning was also extremely loud and sounded like it was on its last legs, making it difficult to relax and sleep. More than half of the electrical outlets in the room did not work. This was particularly inconvenient as there were five of us staying in the room, and we needed to charge our phones, use a hairdryer, etc. Having so few functioning outlets made this unnecessarily difficult. The staff, however, were very friendly and pleasant, which was a definite positive. On the positive side, the rooftop terrace was a nice feature. However, the pool was very small, and the water did not feel particularly clean or fresh. Overall, it is a lovely hotel in terms of its design and potential, but the lack of maintenance and attention to basic issues really affected our stay. It is a shame to see such a nice hotel being allowed to fall into disrepair.
