“It was a lovely well appointed property ”

“Our bedroom was spacious and clean. Good location with views of surrounding countryside. Delicious and well-presented dinner and great breakfast.”

“Quite an unusual property which I really liked but it wasn’t what my partner would have chosen. They did come round to it though. Very handy for the town and restaurants and lovely walks nearby. Fridge in room with water, bathroom a little cramped but at least it was clean and the host (who I think may live there) was very friendly. ”

“It was clean and accessible. No street noise or guest noise. Walkable to the train station. Comfortable bed. Very basic breakfast and basic tea & coffee. No local eateries except for poor takeaways. Staff not particularly friendly. ”

“Tänk att få sova i ett hus från tusentalet, där hela charmen är bevarad, trots alla bekvämligheter. Vi körde på smala vägar och fick tack och lov inget möte på vår väg mot Old Downton Lodge, så det var helt tyst och stilla på natten. Jättefin service, bra frukost och trevligt personligt mottagande av David. Helt otroligt fint och speciellt!”

“I arrived later than should for check in due to delays but was still able to book in. The room was very clean with a lovely big comfortable double bed. There was tea and coffee in the rooms plus a television which was an added bonus. The shower room was extremely clean and the shower was lovely and hot. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone. ”

“We liked the friendly staff and our room. WiFi to be aded next year. We were lucky with parking as we parked outside but this is not guaranteed though there is a large public car park fairly closeby”

“Positives first, we had a family wedding near by and were allowed to check into the room at1pm instead of 4.30pm which was greatly appreciated. There is ample free on site parking and the building from the outside looks very nice.However the property is very dated and in desperate need of renovation.”

“Nothing fancy about Hipbone but it was pleasant enough, we were visiting the racehorse + it was about half a mile away which was ideal. Breakfast was ok, a bit cold but I didn't complain. ”

“We enjoyed the comfy bed and a soak in the bath. The Tv and other electrical appliances appeared brand new and everything we could want was there. The location is right on the main street so there was some traffic noise and we didnt find the heating or wifi controls - maybe some info in the room would help? This did not trouble us enough to seek help though, so overall a positive experience 🙂”

“Property fine though bathroom bin not been emptied, the owners two daschunds below us did not stop yapping and so we cut our stay short and came home a day early. NOT A PEACEFUL GETAWAY.”
