National Trust treasures Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall are both just in 10 miles from Swafield Hall.
The house is mentioned in "The Buildings of England" by Nicolaus Pevsner and Bill Wilson and has an impressive brick and flint Tudor North facade and beautiful lime washed Georgian South elevation. Local legend reports that Admiral Horatio Nelson stayed in the house. He visited the local area many times and attended Paston Grammar School, North Walsham, until he was 12 years old. North Walsham is 2 miles from Swafield.

In February 2017 we finished Nelson’s Suite renovation. This is a luxurious 250 square feet private room, situated on the first floor of Swafield Hall. Nelson’s Suite retains its original features like antique plaster, bay windows, servants bell mechanisms, servants door and C18th enfilade doors.
The suite can be rented for special occasions as an additional bedroom to accommodate larger parties of guests. Comfortable and stylish accommodation in a lovely setting
We stayed in the 2 person self-catering apartment for 2 weeks. The owners are lovely; helpful, informative, friendly but not at all intrusive. The apartment was well appointed - yes the bath is indeed splendid (see previous reviews), the bed was very comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. TV (if needed) screen was a good size. Everything was clean and of good quality. Being able to sit in the large conservatory which has table/chairs, sofas, facilities for making hot drinks, was great when you wanted a lazy few hours. The house is set in lovely gardens. There is so much to see in the local area if you like countryside, good beaches, gardens (especially East Ruston Old Vicarage - we went twice!), big country houses, steam trains, etc. We rarely go back to the same place because there is so much of the UK to see and we like to explore, but we intend to return to this bit of Norfolk and Swafield Hall within the next 12 months.

Wonderful hosts and beautiful house
We spent a week in this historic house and loved every moment. Boris and Tim were warm and welcoming hosts and Anton (the dog) always put a smile on our faces. The gardens are beautiful and well worth exploring. We took advantage of the tennis court also. We highly recommend this property.

Away from it all
My wife and I saw this property and its location and decided it looked just right for us. We wanted a place where we could relax and unwind. On arrival we were greeted by Boris who made us feel very much at ease. We were shown the grounds which are lovely, extensive and very interesting. Lots of areas to explore and chill out. We then went up to our room that we thought was excellent having been tastefully decorated and restored to a very high standard. We were in the East Wing which gave a lovely view out over the surrounding countryside with Trunch Church and steeple on the horizon. The location we also liked as it was only a short distance to the lovely beach at Mundesley. It was close to many other tourist attractions including a couple of National Trust properties. We would not hesitate to return to Swafield Hall and look forward to booking for next year.

Beauty, peace and luxury
The east-wing apartment was perfect for our honeymoon - private, very clean, well-appointed and immaculately decorated. The kitchen is very well-equipped, the double bed super-comfy and the bathroom absolute luxury (with a clawfoot bathtub and unlimited, speedy-running hot water). The hosts are quietly welcoming and helpful, and the rest of the Hall fascinating. The extensive gardens are beautifully laid out, with secret nooks and orchards and wonderful flower-beds. Swafield/North Walsham itself is perfectly situated for the North Norfolk coast which has many beautiful sites and walks. The internet came and went a bit, but was never off for more a minute as they have at least 4 different hubs! Pretty much perfect, and highly recommended.

Historic restored propoerty
We enjoyed our break in Swafield Hall. The house, where Nelson is reputed to have stayed as a boy, has been tastefully restored by Tim and Boris and the accommodation is comfortable. We enjoyed playing tennis is the fine gardens and we also tried croquet. The house is well placed for exploring the pleasures of Norfolk, being close to Cromer and historic places such as Houghton Hall. I can thoroughly recommend a stay at Swafield Hall where Bori and Tim have created a fine house and garden.

Wonderful Swalfield Hall!
My husband and I couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at Tim & Boris' wonderful hall.We were greeted by our hosts and given a tour of our apartment. It was better than expected. Very quiet and well appointed. And the bathroom is huge with a large claw foot tub. We were given a tour of the garden. The garden was absolutely breathtaking. A labor of love. Tim and Boris invited us to share dinner with them. Couldn't have asked for more. And their dog, Antoine, is the sweetest furry friend. I would recommend this property for a peaceful holiday in Norfolk. Truly a great place.

Beautiful house in beautiful surroundings.
Swafield Hall is a gem near the Norfolk coast. Both Boris and Tim are perfect hosts and have toiled endlessly to restore this beautiful house back to its former glory. Having completed 90% of the restoration we can't wait to return in 2017 to see the finished result. Paul and Vicky

Lovely break, can't wait to go back when it's finished.
Even though there is a lot of building work currently going on it didn't really impose on the overall affect and quality of our stay. Boris and Tim were very accommodating and after the first night had the heating sorted. We stayed in the East wing apartment which had been done to a high standard and the roll top bath was very luxurious.
