Lovely B & B

This civil war era B & B is charming, historic, authentic, and lovely. The owners, Carole & Tom, are the most wonderful people you will meet. They greet you as you arrive, show you around the property, settle you into your room, and even accommodate you with a glass of wine, delivered straight to your room, after a long day of travel. So perfect! The cottage house was cozy and comfortable. The morning breakfast cooked by Carole herself is the most delicious, heavenly food you will taste. Trust me, she's an excellent chef! And, the conversation and connection you find with her and Tom will be good for your soul! Now...please take note that for whatever reason, the communication through VRBO with the owners was non-existent. They were unable to see my messages and the interactions took place via email rather than through the VRBO site, which I was uncomfortable with at first, but quickly realized it must be some glitch between them and VRBO. They were just as mystified about the problems as I was. It all got straightened out once I arrived at their B & B, but do yourself a favor and directly book with them on their site, 1861Inn dot com , to avoid miscommunications and to get a better price.

We absolutely loved the entire experience. Tom and Carole are very professional about providing a great B&B...and they succeeded. Great breakfast, good information and a beautiful fully provided for overnight stay,,,love the pool. Would stay there again without hesitation...Good folks...

A Great Place

Lovely B&B set in nice quiet landscape of trees and hills but also very close to major routes; very friendly owners/staff and quite accommodating. Highly recommended.

A Wonderful little getaway place!

Wow..its the best word to describe this quaint little bed and breakfast. Wish we could have stayed here longer. The amenities were superb and the innkeepers were the best. What a delicious breakfast too!

Wonderful Stay

Carole and Tom were great hosts. We had The Jenny room that had a private screened in porch overlooking the pool. The grounds are beautiful. Defiantly will stay there again if in area.

We were quickly greeted by carol and Tom and shown around the property and to our room. House was beautiful and clean. They went out of their way to assure we had everything we could possibly need.

Fantastic Weekend

Wish I could give more than five stars. This place is great. Location is out of the way, but still convenient to everything in Cinci. Carole and Tom are the perfect hosts. A pool at a B & B, and it did not diminish from the charm of a home built in the 1800's. How cool is that? We will be back.

1861 B&B: Charming, Restful, Unique

My son had a weekend soccer tournament across the river from 1861 B&B, so we stayed one night and loved it. The house has so much character and is filled with interesting antiques. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. Our room (Jenny's retreat, I think) had a screened-in porch attached to it. I read and relaxed on the porch between soccer games while my son rested on the sofa in the room. We spent the evening on the front porch (he in a rocking chair while I reclined on a porch swing) reading and listening to the frogs after the sun set. Breakfast was delicious. Carole and Tom are great hosts. I would like to return when the pool and hot tub are open and rent all of the rooms with a few girlfriends.

Best B&B in the world

It just doesn't get any better than this. Carol and Tom are fantastic hosts and the house is absolutely spectacular. Built in 1861 and never left to disrepair the house is in perfect condition and then some. The setting is perfect the gardens are beautiful the bed is comfortable the shower is modern like I said it just doesn't get any better than the 1861 Inn.

Great find...price is right for a truly amazing bed and breakfast experience... food was incredible, room with tub romantic and cozy, and the hosts were beyond friendly - felt like they went out of their way to interact with me! I traveled from California to visit family and this Inn provided me respite. If I lived in Ohio, or was traveling south along Hwy 275, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at 1861 Inn. It is a GEM!!

Great Alternative for Business Travel

I had a choice between another boring night at a Courtyard or HYATT Place. Instead, I tried this little B&B. What a great choice! Carole and Tom are wonderful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The pool and setting is a million times more relaxing than another business hotel. Tom brought beer out as I worked by the pool. Had a great run in the country. Breakfast was the best I've had in a long time. To top it off, I already miss Marley the dog. A charming place with charming owners. Go out of your way to pay them a visit.

Relaxing and Friendly

Wonderful historic house, with pool and hot tub. Friendliest people and dog! Just a joy to be there and experience the atmosphere and amazing breakfast. An overall superb experience!
