Nice Arabic help - well worth the cost - near Corniche Road in Dammam
A little had to find unless you know the area. We stopped and asked when we saw traffic circles and got directions to the street. No address, so we stopped and asked an English speaking local to call and find out where it is. It is only about 100 meters off the Corniche Road, not as shown on the map, and is in a relatively new neighborhood. Hotel was relatively new, clean, and the bed was better than we had in other places. Cooking is limited to a hotplate, but the refrigerator worked, there were some dishes and pots and pans and the room/apartment was relatively new and spacious. There was wireless internet, slow like in all of Saudi, but the connection came up quickly enough. The first room they showed us was a heavily smoked-in room, but they changed us to a non-smoking room without any complaints. There is an elevator, so no need to climb the stairs. The desk help don't speak much English, so don't bother calling if you don't speak Arabic. The advertised rate was honored and we were among the few people there other than the staff. This place is about half the going rate for affordable places to stay in the area, but it's a 15 minute drive to Khobar or Dhahran if that's where you are doing business or shopping. Reservation can only secured by Visa card, but there is an American Express sign on the door. All in all, we'll stay there again when we are in the Dammam area.
