Fully stocked with kitchenware, linens, & towels!
Queen bed in the bedroom and air mattress available for living room to sleep a total of 5 guests if someone doesn`t mind using the sectional couch. Smart tv, high speed internet, large yard and outdoor space.

Enjoy effortless access to the Colorado School of Mines, a fantastic array of local breweries, delicious restaurants, and eclectic shops.

Beyond the immediate charm of Golden, you’re ideally situated for scenic drives to iconic destinations: catch a show at Red Rocks, explore the cultural richness of Denver and Boulder, hit the slopes at nearby ski resorts, try your luck at Black Hawk Casino, or experience the breathtaking beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park. With the airport also within reach, adventure is always just around the corner!

Golden was the first capitol of the Colorado Territory, founded in 1859. Spend a few days, a week, or more as you discover Golden, Colorado, `Where the West Lives` Nestled at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Golden has something for everyone- nature walks, museums, shopping, skiing, mountain biking, kayaking, fly fishing, riverboarding, amusement park, farmers market, outdoor concerts, art festivals and more! Tours are available at the Coors Brewery as well as at numerous historic sites dating from pioneer days.

Golden is very bike-friendly! Lots of paths and easy to get around. The house is also super walkable to most of Golden`s attractions. A car is recommended for trips outside of Golden.

Failure to follow house rules (ie: no smoking, check out time, etc.) may result in extra fees or loss of security deposit.

Please be mindful of check-in and especially check out times.
If you are requesting early check-in or late check-out, do make sure to message us to see if this is possible. We will do our best to be accommodating, but communication is key.

Starter supplies are provided; guests are responsible for their own paper/cleaning/toiletries after starter supplies run out.

The pictures make the space look larger than it is, which is fairly normal. However, first night I got locked out do to the door electronic lock thing running low batteries and refusing to unlock. Had to call the after hours number, they didn't come to fix the batteries until noon the next day. They have a large bug infestation at the moment. I've lived in Colorado for a long time, and even if the weather is weird this year, that is no excuse to having to wake up to bugs crawling on you and finding bugs everywhere. I stayed here because I was getting Married in Golden ans wanted to sleep closer to our venue. Next time I would rather spend the extra money on a hotel bug free. I have so many pictures of the bugs here.

This was our first time in Colorado and it def didn’t disappoint! Location was perfect. Walkable to shops and restaurants in Golden. It was an easy drive to Vail and Breckenridge to explore those areas. We also went horse back riding in Estes park and hiking in RMNP. And saw an amazing show at red rocks! The rental had everything we needed esp a comfy bed after our days of exploring! The host was super easy to communicate with and we would stay here again!

The Retro Retreat is an adorable 50’s retreat and so close to downtown Golden. The Golden Mill was super close. A very short walk. I loved the 50’s decor, especially the prints in the bathroom, the toaster, the refrigerator, and the lava lamp. All so fun! Kendra was so easy to contact and the door was super easy to open and also secure. The bed was very comfy and we slept well in our cozy abode.

My husband and I stayed one night for a game at Mines, and the location was convenient for a short drive. The home was generally clean but would need significant updates to reach a five-star standard. Since we didn’t spend much time at the property, it worked fine for a short stay. However, I didn’t feel completely comfortable there, so we wouldn’t choose it again.

There was more than one communicator, type lockbox unknown by helper at check-in..which caused me to try for approximately 1-hour to get in..very frustrating. Also had all along Ben told someone would meet me at property so I was careful to be precise about arrival..not easy with a road trip or any travel for that matter. Yet like I said, did not meet me there afterall..and a different person “helped” by phone. The whole experience was so negative I ended up not sleeping there, yet had paid to do so. Lastly, this home on a rather exposed corner..not apparent from images. Otherwise, was clean and similar to pictures..last mention, only cold water exits shower head..hot routing thru tub fawcet. A really bad experience.

The location was great for visiting DT Golden. The area has many shops, restaurants, etc. Most attractions were within walking distance. Communication with the host was great. Some items within the home needed replacements, attention (bedroom ceiling fan, toilet). In all, it was a good stay as the home was clean and had all the necessary amenities.

Honestly, the property was a complete dump and we felt very uncomfortable staying there. The first day we were there we experienced a breaker tripping twice. And the bathroom light was flickering like a strobe. I had to turn it off because it was making me nauseous. We complained, and someone came over and apparently replaced the bathroom lightbulb. Still flickered so I was very concerned about an electrical short and possibly starting a fire. Because of this we were not comfortable using the microwave or stove, so we had to eat all meals elsewhere. It was not at all cozy or inviting and I can not believe it was rated 9.2 stars. I would NEVER go there again, and in fact I have very little reason to ever use VRBO again. I believe I should be given a refund for our stay as for the reasons above, it was a very unsettling and uncomfortable stay.

Perfect for us

The exterior looks a little rough, but step inside to 1952. We were happy we rented the Retro House for several reasons. It was clean and cozy, had neat decor, and had all the essentials anyone would need to be comfortable. The location is absolutely perfect if you want to be close to everything - historic downtown, restaurants, walking trail, tubing, Coors and other breweries, park. What else do you want? Finally, Kendra was in communication with us throughout our stay to make sure our needs/concerns were met. We loved Golden partially due to this small but cozy home and our host, Kendra. We will stay here if/when we return to Golden. Thank you Kendra.

Great Golden location

This place met my top 3 criteria: clean, good bed, and quiet. We did a lot of cycling and the local path ran right next to the house. And the Golden Mill is a very cool place to grab a drink.

Great little place!

We're a family of 3 and this was perfect for us. A great place to base from to visit the Red Rocks, Golden and day trips to the mountains! We love how you can walk to the downtown area of Golden, that was a huge plus!
